Society as a Whole is Too Money Hungry
by Turn on your radio. The announcer says,” Are you tired of your old car? Then go to your Ford dealer and buy a new Taurus. Don’t wait! Buy one today”.
Turn on your TV set. An announcer says,” Look at this beautiful Whirlpool dishwasher. It’s portable. Put it in your kitchen or in a closet. Push it around the house. It isn’t expensive, so buy one today. Whirlpool products are on sale at Macy’s, Circuit City, and other fine stores. “
Open a newspaper. The ads say, “Take a trip to Europe. “ ”Rent an auto and go to Florida. “ ”Buy a new television and a DVD player. “
Almost everybody says,” Spend! Spend! Spend! “Who says,” Save! Save! Save “? The savings banks do. Some husbands do. A few wives do. Mothers and fathers probably say to save your money also.
All that spending can easily lead to bankruptcy so for me, Roman, I want to be thrifty and save my loot! If I were to put ten dollars each month for 20 years into an account that earned a yearly interest rate of six percent, I would have more than $4600. If I were to save ten dollars each month for 40 years, I would have over $20,000!
