The Bad Economy is Creating Equality
Desperation is teaching the unemployed what it feels like to be poor.
The poor are use to being unemployed, and viewed as being lazy. They are used to being considered as “scum of the earth,” for not having a job. They have thick shells when it comes to being called names, and treated like they refuse to contribute to society.
Now that the economy is in distress, and thousands of people are losing their jobs “through no fault of their own,” people are reacting to FEAR.” Being unemployed after having the security of a decent job, and resenting those who did not work, these people are now flipping. The shame and embarrassment is only the beginning of their emotional stress. Having their homes foreclosed, and struggling to pay bills, eats way at the ego like a cancer.
Anger, depression and feeling hopeless builds up, and often ends in domestic violence, suicide, or committing crimes to survive, They are tossed helplessly into the Pitt of homelessness and poverty. They become “EQUAL” with those they once resented for experiencing the same thing they are going through, by no fault of their own. Now they know how it feels.

Your words are true too the point.
The people have used the poor and the less fortunate for decades. It has never sat right with me. But my comparison is that of the rich being sharks and the poor being minnows. The current system of things is set up in a fashion that claims honr, loyalty, trust but I see none of this lattely. The poor get poorer and the rich get richer. Where are you Robin Hood? That should be the next American Hero. Your points and clever write was a joy to read. Talent is a difinetly in your ability to write. keep up the great work. Who knows maybe someday someone will act upon our injustices. God Bless.

Well done. I had thought of that and I wonder how many will gain wisdom and how many shall drown in the sea of struggling to survive.

I know only too well what it is like being unemployed. After losing my job with no fault of my own i have been unemployed for two years, now i spend my time doing poems about real life issues where i can voice my issues like yourself, where you can let off steam.
Here in Britain it’s the same where the poor get poorer and the rich get richer and they pay less tax than us which is not right.

There is no equality in being unemployed or being poor. That is only a state of being at a certain period of time. Those now joining those ranks may now be similar but definitely not equal. If anything, the newbies are lessor than those already living in poor conditions on a regular basis. Why? Because, it took what others did not have in life to get those good things. Still. with all the knowledge, learning, smarts and experience at hand, they still managed to lose it all. A poor mand and a rich man might shop at the same grocery store…that does not make them equal.

It’s all in the hands of God. Yeah! The rich can wash their cars, clothes, dishes, and their a** with the same bottle of dishwashing liquid as the po folks!!
