Why It’s Difficult Trying to be a Nurse
This is about challenges in the nursing program.
In this kind of economy, many people are going back to college for nursing. They’re studying for nursing in hope to have a stable career. Nursing is a stable career but it comes with many challenges as well too. It’s not your typical job and it’s difficult in every single way. It’s difficult from the moment you try to do your prerequisites classes and to the day you get accepted into the program. It’s the wait that matters too. You will be waiting for a long time if you can’t get into the program right away. It’s not like any other major in college where you can take and drop classes at any time. You have to apply and you have to be accepted in order to get into the program. If you never get accepted, you won’t ever get to study it.
There are many reasons why you might not get accepted. If you have a criminal record, they will not accept you or even grant you a license when you’re done with the program. If you have a communicable disease, you might not get accepted. If you don’t finish all of your prerequisites with a C or above, they won’t accept you. If you can’t pay your tuition, you might not be able to complete college. There are many obstacles when trying to enter a Nursing program. It’s just like trying to enter medical school or law school. There are too many requirements and I think it’s the reason why many people fail to finish the program or even try to enter the program.
One of the challenges in nursing school is time. When you’re in the program, it’s impossible to have a life or friends or to work. You won’t have time to work or have time to go out. You might risk failing the program if you work or go out too much. This is why it’s very difficult for a single mother to attend this program unless you have a father helping you out with babysitting. If you’re married and have children, it’s impossible to handle this program. Time is a big deal in nursing school and if you don’t have time then you should reconsider going into the program.
Once you’re in the program, you have to commit to it and follow through it all the way. You can’t just drop and get in next semester. It’s not like any other major. If you drop, you will be ejected from the program and you won’t be able to get back in unless you apply again. It’s like grade school where everyone has to move up together and no one gets to jump around.
If you don’t pass a class with a C or better, you will be ejected from the program. They will not allow you to go on with a C – for any classes. You have to pass all classes with a C or better. It’s difficult in the nursing program. It’s hard to pass everything too. It’s not like your regular program. You will also have to attend clinical and many people don’t like clinical. It’s hard to pass some clinical too. You will have to work hard in order to pass them. If you fail clinical, you will fail the entire class too. Clinical is where you have to report to the hospital to care for the patients. You will need to perform various procedures too. There are many challenges in Nursing and this is not a complete list yet. You will have to decide if you can take on these challenges.
