A Daily Struggle with Dyslexia

An article describing a form of dyslexia.

Dyslexia is a learning disability. It is also known as a developmental reading disorder. When a person has dyslexia they tend to read letters backwards and upside down, etc. This is because the brain can’t process the words properly. It can also happen with numbers. In some cases, a person can have both of these problems in one shot.

It is uncommon for most people to understand the severity of dyslexia. Some people will think you are lazy when it comes to math, especially if you are dyslexic with numbers yet happen to be a voracious reader. It isn’t uncommon for this to happen, it just isn’t talked about much.

So why do I know so much about dyslexia with arithmetic? Have you not figured it out by now? Okay, well I have the disorder. I wasn’t officially diagnosed with it but I do have trouble reading numbers which makes me less efficient with math. It has also gotten me fired from jobs… I also have been called lazy and told I only gave up math. From ignorant people like these, their ignorance in that area causes them to think that way. After all, I am a voracious reader yet math I always have trouble with. I have trouble speaking at times too which is another form of dyslexia and another reason why I don’t speak very much usually. I think my chronic chest pains have something to do with that as well, but I am not sure.

I remember one time my dyslexia in math really got me in trouble. I faced discrimination due to my learning disability. I tried to get a job at a certain supermarket. The owner of that store somehow found out about my learning disability. He asked “Have you gotten over your dyslexia yet?” I was stunned. Needless to say, I never obtained the job. There is a lot more to that too, but that will be in my comic if you continue to read it when I put new pages up…

How ignorant and shameful people can be. Sometimes I just don’t get my fellow man.
