An Undervalued Gold Mine
The positive aspects of your local library, and how you can use it to your advantage.
I’ve recently rediscovered my local library, and let me tell you, times have defiantly changed since I was a tot. Allow me to run through a few main improvements I have noticed since joining. I may of course be a little out dated with this, and you may all already be ardent library frequenters. But anyway, let’s see.
Content
The actual book content is of a much wider variety, So there is something to satiate even the most obscure and adventurous minds.
The Internet
You can now get free internet access when you join, brilliant for those of us on a tight budget, which is most of us these days.
Librarians
Librarians I have found to completely invaluable, and a fountain of knowledgeable about a multitude of different books and genre’s. Anything you’re looking for, or if you’ve heard about a book perhaps and can’t quite remember the name, try them and I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Coffee Machine
I’m not sure if this is the same everywhere, but my local library has a coffee machine, so you can spend all day there if you choose and have the comforts of home for a very small price.
Book Clubs
These welcome anyone with a passion for reading, or of course, writing. These are fascinating places, full of like-mind people, with a view that books are the food of life, and are to be cherished.
Children’s Section
This for me is the most exciting part of the library. It is absolutely packed with wonderful and enthralling books. All different genres’s and books for all abilities to help your budding readers develop and feed their addiction. See not all addictions are detrimental to our health!
So Many People
Libraries are no longer deafly quite and nerve racking. They are extremely inviting for everyone, especially the younger and livelier amongst us, which is after all what we want, to encourage the younger generations to carry one reading and to enjoy it. Though of course, it’s not a playground so the pitch is such that you can still read and study.
