Black History Month

The trouble with Black History.

Now that I’ve finished with my tangent, I’ll get back to the point. Black History should not just be narrowed down to twenty-eight days out of 365. Great African American leaders, and all worthy notables deserve to get the proper recognition. Truthfully, African Americans shaped this world we live in, but that’s just my opinion. African Americans laid the foundation for this country, and will never receive the credit they deserve. Europeans seem to always take the credit for everything no mater what. This is the primary reason African Americans have so much suppressed anger. Just about everything that is done by African Americans, Europeans seem to take it over and call it theirs. This is just socially and morally unjust. I really don’t think African Americans had a say in when nor how long their history would be celebrated, and how much would be taught in the schools. Hmmmm….something just doesn’t sound right to me, but who am I. America needs to take a step back and really look at their history in a full perspective. American or U.S. History does not by any means just consist of Europeans, MLK, and Malcolm X. Lets take a look at the overflowing amount of cultures that played a major role in the shaping of our country. America truly needs to re-analyze their history.

APPLAUSE! This piece is so thought provoking! We need to wake up and focus on reshaping the future of our youth. We need to to teach them as well and not just leave that up to the teachers in the schools. Not taking anything away from them but the teaching should not stop there people!!!
