Blessings in a Backpack
A program designed to feed children in grades K-5 who may not have or enough food on the weekends.
Remember when you were a kid back in grade school. Did you have enough to eat or were you part of a reduced price meal program?
All I know is, when I was young, it was hard to concentrate if I hadn’t eaten enough. I wasn’t on a special meal program or anything, but I do know that it’s hard to do well in school if you’re constantly thinking about hunger. Well, some kids go through this all the time. That’s how Blessings in a Backpack was created.
How it works is, volunteers pack donated foods into backpacks for those kids in need who don’t have food to eat on the weekends. Each kid takes home a backpack and has food for the weekend. They bring it back again on Monday and the whole process starts again. You can donate money to the cause, of course, and as it says on their site, $80 can feed one child for an entire school year. Check out their site to learn more at http://www.blessingsinabackpack.com/
Please, help out in any way that you can so that kids everywhere can raise their test scores!
