Burnt Out Teachers

Though I know I am over-thinking this, I am having trouble putting the cart before the horse. I think that my style will make me more at ease with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Yet I am not quite sure where I want my Instructional Design to go or what I want to accomplish; and each model is well suited for different goals.

So there is another possibility in Instructional Design.  Create your own model once you know what your ultimate goal is of the IDP and tailor a catchy name to fit your goal. For example. If you want the goal to be teacher satisfaction after completely preparing students for their annual standardized test, try this one.

B         Buy the most recent copy of the standardized test in question which will no doubt be more current then whatever your district gives you.

U         Use your prep periods to take the test yourself, grade it and stand amazed when you see you failed it.

R         Remove all rational thought process from your mind as it will only put you in a position to promote too much free thinking in class.

N         Never forget to scare your students by reminding them how many days are left until their big test day.

T          Test the students with sample exams provided by the standardized testing agencies to give the students the false hope that the regular test will be easier.

O         Only tell your Principal what they need to know as far as your preparation for the test. Creative thinking is unacceptable.

U         Unless you are willing to take the tests for the students on test day, don’t tell them phrases like “there will be three questions like this on the test so go home and study.”

T          The end? Nope! Start at “B” to begin preparing for next year’s exam.
