Fortunately, it is possible to get a CADC certification online.  Online classes are a great way to study at your own pace and attend class at the times that are most convenient to you.  In fact, many people who already work in the counseling and rehabilitation fields choose online classes over traditional courses at brick and mortar schools because of the flexible scheduling options online courses offer.  Professionals who work for public hospitals and private clinics rarely have work schedules that are consistent from day to day, making a traditional schedule of classes difficult to maintain.

Fortunately, online CADC classes are designed to be taken by people who are already working.  Lectures can be watched at any time, and tests can be scheduled to be taken at the student’s convenience.  There are a variety of lengths of course semesters offered online as well.  Schools with short semesters are good choices for students who need to obtain their certification quickly.  Schools with longer semesters, however, are good choices for students with heavy work schedules who need more time to study and complete assignments.   

The certification earned in online classes can be used in any of the fifty states to qualify for licensure.  While each state has different exams and slightly different requirements for getting a license, an online CADC course will qualify a student to take the exams.  Once licensed, a student can work as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in hospitals, clinics, and alongside public social workers.  Some students choose to use the certification to augment their already established careers in social work or counseling.  A CADC certificate can be used to qualify for promotions or renew licensing in similar fields.
