Christopher Paul Curtis

One of the best authors ever is probably Christopher Paul Curtis. He grew up in Flint Michigan and was born in 1954. He worked in a factory while he attended the University of Michigan. In 1993 he decided to take 1 year off of work and write his first novel. His book was going to be about the dangers of a black family living in the south. When his writing career took off he quit his factory job. His first book won 6 awards and his second book won the Newbery and the Curtis Scott King Award in 1999.

            I think his book the Watsons go to Birmingham was amazing because it taught me lessons I never knew about and it told me what happened to black families who lived in the south. The character Kenny in the book really made me think about how he felt in the situation he was put in. So I really recommend reading books by Christopher Paul Curtis.
