Chronicle of a Canadian in Japan: The Japanese School
The school in Japan is very different from the West. The school requires a lot of time with our children but a side school system is very well done.
There’s always the little things in Japan that will always fascinated me. One method that we should do in the West is to visit teachers at home. And yes the two teachers of my children came to spend about 1 hour to our house and visit the room and place ’s study of children. If a teacher sees a problem for the child in the house so he ordered to report to authorities for the child to have better conditions. Frankly I think it’s great and this method is used to protect these small cons abuse of some irresponsible parents.
Natural science in school
My daughter arrived from school on a Friday with a cut plastic bottle that contained a larva. The reason is simple, each student receives a caterpillar and should fatten up the time which becomes a butterfly and learn lessons for children and the natural sciences but also of responsibility towards this little animal. Then my daughter for three weeks the caterpillar fed with leaves and then we saw become a cocoon and then we saw her off. Currently, we have a second cocoon, but this time this case is the largest butterfly of Japan, about as big as a man’s hand. I can not wait to see him out of his cocoon.
The Olympics at school
In Japan every year from kindergarten to secondary schools organize Olympiads for students. It was very interesting to see the whole organization around this event and especially the most striking was the effectiveness of Japanese and student discipline. Throughout the day activities that have followed one after another without interruption, it was disconcerting to see. And students (around 1000 students) all in their places, without incident, very beautiful. And throughout the day there were Japanese songs, so I can tell you that the atmosphere was at the rendezvous.
