There are some really great ESL Games For Kids and activities For Children out there. Children on the whole benefit from the use of classroom activities, it helps them to immerse themselves in the target language and actually learn English whilst playing. The kids most of the time don’t even realize that your teaching them! Here’s a great game that you can introduce in your ESL Classroom.
The Attention Game
This is a command game that employs the use of the imperative. It’s a fairly simple and straightforward game to play with little or no preparation time required.
Procedure: Write some commands down on the board. For example… run, walk, jump, swim, turn around, hop, stand up, sit, down, skip etc.
Run through the commands with the children to make sure that they are familiar with the commands and what to do. After that divide the students into teams and start the game. You should call out the command. Stand up! And the students should follow suit by performing the correct action. Points are warded to the team that completes the action in the quickest time and fastest!
