Colleges, Alcohol and Drugs
Colleges, alcohol and drugs are a poor combination. Yet the majority of colleges have binge drinking and drug usage. Sexual assault and rape are almost always connected to alcohol and drug use. Hundreds of college students are accidentally hurt and killed every year by falling off roofs, out of windows or lying in the roads. Most administrators look the other way to keep the funds coming in. So it’s up to the parents to correct their own child.
Colleges, Alcohol and Drugs
What is a “party school?” It’s a college that has a reputation for heavy alcohol and drug use. A lot of American colleges fit that description. Colleges should be the last place on earth where falling down drunk, on alcohol or drugs, is accepted. We send our kids off to college for an education to gain an entrance into the mature world of business. Not to binge drink, do drugs and party. College students are injured by the hundreds every year, many of them die. They fall off roofs, out of windows, get hit by cars while lying in the road, or die from drunken hazing. What a waste of young lives.
Most college administrators only give lip service to keeping college kids behavior in check. The results of beer pong tournaments are posted on bulletin boards, and pingpong balls with the college logo that are used in the games are sold in the campus bookstore. College walls are plastered with big beer company logos. That tells you that no one is looking out for the kids. College administrators look the other way to keep the funds coming in.
Parents can control the situation. They control the fees paid to the colleges. Put the college under pressure to do something. Don’t allow them to look the other way. Have a serious talk to your student and lay down the law. Let your student know that either he changes his behavior or no money will be forthcoming.
National surveys show that 44 percent of college students are binge drinkers. At school parties they are clearly the majority and sexual assault and date rape are almost always tied to alcohol or drugs abuse. Let your student know that the buck stops here or you could be one of the many parents attenting their college childs funeral.

Unfortunately students seem to go crazy during the first year at college or university, having been let off the leash, often for the first time. I think the coolleges need to do something then. Thank you for raising our awareness of the problem..

Terrible things really happened in school. In my place, many schools did not want to talk about the problem or seek help from the police due to school reputation. Thanks for sharing.
