Community College vs. University

The choice of where to go to college may impact your college career. Here’s some factors you should consider for the decision.

Technology is another big factor in choosing between the two schools. Whereas community colleges are just receiving the new computers to put PowerPoint’s on projector screens, universities have always had them. Also, universities have cameras in their classrooms for the safety of their students and faculty. Universities also have more computer labs, larger libraries, and more advancements in their media labs. Universities have classes that teach specifically computer software that allow students to become more detailed in their profession. This gives their students more opportunities to grow in their education and experience more than a community college could offer them.

Furthermore, if you’re looking to join organizations on campus, then a university might suit you better. Junior colleges very rarely have very many organizations to choose from in any specific interest, but universities have an organization for just about anything. Some of these organizations will pay you to work for them, whereas others are just happy to have you as a member. Whatever the reason, make the most of it, be social, and you’ll meet friends on campus in no time. This is a great opportunity to get to know other people who are just like you.

Finally, consider the safety of the  campus. Look at their website to get the university police’s phone number, or to see stats of their crime rates. If the school of your choice has a high crime rate, don’t panic. There is another school out there for you; your life is more valuable than a college degree. Check to see if there is a self-defense course at the school of your choice, so if you had to defend yourself, you could. Call the city where your school is located and get the crime statistics the area. They should provide you with them, or direct you to a website. Your safety matters first on your community college or university’s campus.
