Crucifixes are Forbidden in Italian Schools by Court Order

The Human Rights Court of the European Union has forbidden the public display of crucifixes in Italian schools. I am gloating, but probably not for the reasons you might think of. And in gloating, I am in good (or bad) company.

Interestingly, the state the most hit by the court verdict is the Vatican, itself not a member of the European Union. This goes to show that the new superstate already starts to throw about its weight. The Vatican reacted shocked, once it had caught up with the news, as nobody had bothered to inform them directly.

And the fool of the day is not the Pope as a powerless bystander, but the leader of the Tory party in Britain, who is slowly choking on his promise made to hold a referendum on the Lisbon treaty. David Cameron had promised a referendum on the treaty, should his party come to power, well knowing that the treaty would have become law long before that. It is just unfortunate that everything went so fast, because now people have lost the last reason to vote for cheating Tory MPs (talking about all the current incumbents).

The French Revolution is said to have eaten its children. The European Bureaucracy will be eating its desks, hopefully, rather than people.

So who is gloating? For one, the people (and the media) in Switzerland, just barely managing to keep back the ‘told you so’. Labour is gloating as well, as the only good point for a Tory government is removed and their own cunning murder of what little democracy Britain had is made permanent and Britain’s sovereignty lost. The bureaucrats in Bruxelles are gloating as the possibilities to line their pockets become not only unlimited by lack of any laws constraining them but also uncheckable by the complete absence of any democratic controls. The list of gloaters could be much longer, adding e.g. the atheists, but the main thing is that Bruxelles has shown its true face on the very first day 27 European countries ceased to exist.

Yes this will be an interesting outcome indeed! You really have it in for Tony Blair….pretty much how I feel regarding The Bush-Cheney Regime for 8 too long crippling years of deceit and corrupt disorder! It\\\’s incredible how in just 8 years an inept administration could cause so much damage globally….lol, and Bush was a \\\’born again christian\\\’….in the classic tradition-\\\’soaked in blood\\\’!

That is an amazingly insightful article. Having been to Italy, the outward expression of its religiosity is a massive part of its appeal for Catholics living in iconoclastic cultures, i.e. the US. The spector of bureaucratic oppression is looming here in the States as well. As the poet said, it all ends in a “whimper”.

Another excellent article Lucas touching on a great subject, very interesting! It seems they have shown their true colors! I remember as a kid in Canada we used to have religion classes in school but shortly after I got out of school they did away with religion all together apparently we were no longer allowed to have such a thing in schools anymore. Just bureacratic B.S with a whole lot of red tape wrapped around it.This was a highly enjoyable read!

Ahhh…the European experiment foments. Perhaps you are thinking logically Lucas :-) Thanks for sticking up for an innocent (mostly) Muslim virtue. I was slightly confused by the first few paragraphs not matching the title, but eventually I caught on. Brian
