Do Grades Measure Inteligence
At all levels the answer is no.
Grades; a source of pride for some and a source of shame for others. Many students place a great deal of emphasis on their grades because they feel that if they don’t have over a 98 average in high school and a 3.8 in college that they will not go anywhere in life. This is not true as success has no agreed upon definition is a published author any more or less succesful than a store manager of a Tops or other store.
Grades do not measure inteligence they measure several other things. The measure a student’s ability to memorize something and spit it back at someone without having to have an ounce of comprehension of the material. The test does not test a student’s comprehension just the individuals ability to spit back memorized facts. In the real world memorizng facts will not get you vert far because the same things does not apply to every situation.
The smartest people are often the ones who do the worst in school because they are bored by the material. And creative people do not do well in school because they like to express their thoughts freely sadly school these days does not allow that for the most part. There is no doubt that creative people are smart. Grades are not a measure of anything but a students ability to regurgitate information and sometimes how much a teacher likes a student.
