Doctorate Degree Holder Becomes Secretary General of Unesco
The SHRM findings show that more than one third of the organizations view the online degrees as favorably as the traditional degrees. Almost half of the employers say that if the there were two job applicants with the same experience; it would make no difference whether they had obtained degree online or on campus.
The online degree holders are being considered not only for the entry level jobs, but also for the top level posts in various fields. Recently, an online doctoral degree holder, Allison Flax-Archer, have been appointed secretary general of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) National Commission for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). As per the US Bureau of Labor Statistics the doctoral degree holders earn much higher salaries than their less educated counterparts. A recent study conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) says that the popularity of the online education is growing and more number of employers are accepting the online qualifications. As per results of the poll conducted by SHRM, 87 percent of the employers agree or strongly agree that today the online degrees are viewed more favorably than they were viewed five years ago. Almost 56% of the employers consider online degrees acceptable for the mid-level, analyst or specialist positions. Finally, 39%employers consider online degree acceptable for the management positions as well.
The results of the extensive study conducted by SHRM does shows favorable acceptance for the online degrees. However, before taking admission in any of the online institutes, the students should make sure that the institute is accredited and that the curriculum of the course gives them the skills that they need to meet their goals. If chosen carefully, the online degree can be equally beneficial for the high school students as well as the experienced professionals.
