Dunwoody
Read this short piece to learn a little about Dunwoody, Georgia.
Dunwoody is a community on the north side of Atlanta, Georgia which became incorporated as a city in December, 2008. The city is located just north of I-285 which is the expressway which encircles Atlanta. Dunwoody is a mix of new commercial development, older traditional housing and modern condominium complexes. The city is centered on an old farmhouse built in 1906 by the Spruill family which once owned most of the land in the area. The Spruill family sold most of their land in 1971 to build Perimeter Mall which is where most of the commercial properties are centered. The area is also the home to the Dunwoody Campus of Georgia Perimeter College – a two year unit of the University System of Georgia. Brook Run Park, a 100 acre green space in Dunwoody contains a 4 acre dog park and is home to arts festivals such as Lemonade Days and the Dunwoody Music Festival and Chili Cook-Off. Dunwoody is truly a community with the best of small town camaraderie and big city amenities.
