E-learning vs. Instructor-led Training

In the modern world, somebody often can find himself facing problems he has never seen before. These problems can range from defending ourselves to learning how to make a cake. A few years ago, one would read a book about it, or go to a lesson to solve it. Nowadays however, the internet seems the easiest way to do it. Which is the more practical? In this article, you will find the answer.

E-learning’s biggest advantage is that it’s fast and free. You think of a topic, and five minutes later you on your way to mastering it, and with the tons of self-helping site, finding an online tutorial is easy. Other benefits of it are that you don’t have to go anywhere, you can learn something in the comfort of your house. The schedule is also very flexible. If you get bored, you can always continue it tomorrow, or even weeks later if you want. However, that can turn into a disadvantage. If you aren’t progressing fast enough, nobody motivates you like an instructor. Someone might give it up on the first day.

Instructor-Led Training on the other hand usually requires money, time, and isn’t held at home, unless you can pay a personal trainer. The big advantage is that somebody monitors your progress, so you will always know what you did wrong, and how to correct it. An instructor can be motivating too. If you take public instructor-led classes, there are great chances that you will have classmates. Learning and practicing with a partner provides more fun, and can be very helpful. Also, you can make lots of friends during training, which improves your social life too.

The main difference is the subject itself. If you want to learn some magic tricks, it’s okay to do it on the web. But learning a language is more effective in real life, under the guidance of a skilled instructor.E-learning however, is sometimes more trustful. You can always check on the internet if a learning process is valid, or it is a scam. With a trainer or a teacher this isn’t the case. If you hear about them, and they are recommended it’s good, but you might possibly spend valuable time and money learning useless things.

But why not use them together? After classes search on the web for tutorials, and they likely give you some additional information, what could give you more knowledge, insight, and better understanding of the subject. It’s the best way to learn, and completely get to know the topic.

So, if you have little free time, and don’t want to be committed for a fixed schedule, E-learning is for you. But if you want to make sure you learn the best way possible, Instructor-Led Training has the advantage.
