Educated (Or in Name Only)
Most of us go to college and get a degree which certifies to the world that we are educated.
Introduction
In one the course I attended, my professor told me that he was not here to teach us but to help us to learn.
I wonder how many of these college and universities are really educated. With some of the logic and statements our politicians and lawyers say in public, it definitely raises that question.
Are the colleges and universities doing their job educating the students or are they there for the money. Many of the teachers in my college had true passion.
We have seen many famous dropouts that have made it big. Among them are Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Majority however depend on colleges and universities to be educated. We need it to get a job.

Education
In many cases, we go to colleges and universities because it is expected of us. When we apply to the colleges and universities we base it on the reputation of the institution. How trustworthy are the reputations? Some institutions may be famous due to the researches done there or due to influences by some prominent politicians.
Many institutions got their reputation through hardwork. These may be reputation earned long time ago, so the question whether it continues to earn its reputation or are they still sitting on their laurels?
Some institutions lower their standards in order to maintain the percentage passes or allow selected connected students to pass.
Closing
With this in mind, how many graduates out there are really educated? Another question is if you are going to college, are you there to be educated or for the paper only.

Interesting article.
I believe our first education is ‘knowledge’ (focusing on fact, information and the outside world).
Our second education is ‘wisdom’ (focusing on our inner self).
Having the one does not guarantee having the other.
