English Education Beyond 8Th Grade

Learning your native language is very important to anyone that would like to function well in their sociaty, because of this the first ten years of a person’s formall education stresses learning every part of the language and being able to read and write it. These are skills that are important for a person’s entire life.

It is true that education in your native language is very important for the first ten years of your formal education it does not seem to be important beginning in the freshman year of high school. In ten years you will have learned almost everything that there is to in your language. You will be able to write very well and comprehend everything that you read.

Beggining in or around the freshman year of high school every course that a student takes will involve an extensive amount of reading and writing. Though the work in high school more than likely pales in comparison to what a student would encounter in college.

This is the course work other than your native language instruction. Language instruction at the high school and college level focuses on reading things and writing about those things. Most of the written work in relation to the work that is read asks a student to write about an idea that they may or not agree with. This causes the student who is taking an english class to become bored with both reading and writing. This will lead to many problems for them later in life.

Writing is a way to communicate your emotions and if you are bored by it in a high school class that does not serve to teach you anything you will more than likely lose a way of expressing yourself.

Advice for every student who is struggling in their high school or college english class is do as much as you can to make the class as fun as possible for yourself. Try to insert a little bit of yourself into everything that you write and from everything you read try to connect with a character and if you can’t do that try to learn something from the material as though it was material you were asked to read for any other class.

English education though useless is required througout most of your formall education so students should make the best of the class so that they do not wind up losing a valuable way of expressing themself. Reading is also important in any job that you will ever have.

English educators should try to make their classes more fun by giving students reading that applies to their life and is understandable to the student. Instead of requiring students to read something by William Shakepeare who wan’t even that talented a writer. Pick pieces of writing that interest that particular generation.

Writing should be a means of expressing one’s emotions as well as a way of creatively expressing yourself. So english educators should allow students more time to write things creativly. There is a novel inside of all of us but if no one show you that you can write it then you will never have the motivation to write it and it is the job of all educators to get students to first learn what they are teaching them and try and get students to like what they are learning so that they will continue learning once they are finished with the required part of the class.
