Famous Homeschoolers: Writers

Three Great novelist/writers that were homeschooled and a little about them.

Famous home schoolers of all time are not just Presidents of the United States, but also writers. Writers that we as an American society have been studying their works for decades. Everyone is familiar with C.S. Lewis ‘s The Chronicles of Narnia, which also happens to have movies made after them. Charles Dickens was a also self-taught and home schooled novelist. So what do you think of being home schooled now? Do you think these novelists had professional training as teachers back in the day? How do you think they did it? Would you try it? Pearl S. Buck was born on June 26, 1892 – March 6, 1973. She was a famous American writer who spent most of her time in China until 1934. She wrote novels like The Good Earth won her the Pulitzer Prize in 1932. She was awarded for her “rich and truly epic descriptions of peasant life in China” according to Wikipedia with the Nobel Prize in Literature. She was the first woman to receive this honor as a writer.
Clive Staples Lewis otherwise known as C.S. Lewis was born  November 29, 1898 – November 22, 1963( this was also the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated) ,was an Irish born British novelist famous for fictional work such as The Chronicles of Narnia, The Screwtape Letters, and The Space Trilogy, but also a Christian apologist.
was born on  February 7, 1812 –  June 9, 1870, an English novelist in the Victorian era.  Charles Dickens is responsible for some of English literature’s most iconic characters as well as novels like Great Expectations, David Copperfield, and A Tale of Two Cities.

    Great work and very true. Many writers either were home schooled or never finished school for various reasons, yet they were great at what they did. Thank you for sharing and it made me feel better too and gives me more courage to continue.
