Final Exams: Will You Crumble Under The Pressure?
An article covering a few final exam tips for college students.
Some get stressed. Some get frazzled. And others get just freaked! Final Exams can get the best of college students, but they don’t have to. College students today are looking for whatever fix they can find to help them get in that extra study time.
Energy drinks, supplemental nutrition packs, and highly caffeinated lattes, may pack a punch in the short term, but lack an effective lift in the long term. All-nighters no doubt drain the body of the true energy it needs.
College life is a much like a marathon. Pushing through the week by getting projects done, scheduling meetings, and adding those finishing touches on paper X and assignment Y. Are you within the grind of that upcoming exam? I want to let you in on a few success tips.
Studying in groups
Group studying can be beneficial for some topics but not for others. What is most important is that you find out what is right for you. Do you need to pre-study before the group meeting to get the most out of the session?
Choosing a study group can also prove to be an arduous task. A study group needs to be credible and reliable. Do you just pick your friends from class? Well, you can, but it may not be the best way to go about the task. You know that smart girl in the class? You may want to ask her to study. Odds are she knows her stuff.
Some scientific and technical courses lend themselves to group study. Liberal arts courses may be successful group study candidates, if a good deal of memorization is required.
Reviewing the material as much as possible and connecting it to what you already know are the best ways to grasp new information.
Sleep
Sleeping just the right amount the night before an exam can set the course of your day and your score. Although amounts of sleep needed actually vary, do your best to know yourself and to fill up your sleep tank before going in on test day.
Lacking sleep may actually slow down your brain’s ability to quickly access and articulate information. You may be doing more harm than good. Your slow response and retrieval may lead to double guessing your answers and taking longer to complete an exam.
