Finishing School Are Still Valuable
Finishing school is no longer extremely popular, but it does still exist. Even if it doesn’t quite seem to fit in today’s society, lots of people are still going.
A lot of girls would now hate having to go to finishing schools, or charm schools. What is a finishing school? It is a school, or in modern times more often a course, which teaches your all about proper etiquette and manners as well as how to dress and present yourself. It used to be much more popular back in the mid 1900’s. Many finishing schools closed before they got to see the 2000’s, and it is now another one of those forgotten ideas from earlier years that don’t seem to impact us now. But wait; there still are some modern finishing schools.
The Modern Day Finishing School for Men and Women by Gloria Starr is one of these modern schools. It is not actually a school, but a course that passes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. So, in other words, during what most people would call their free time. The old elements of actual school are taken out, and only the elements of manners and how-to-be-little-miss (or mister)-perfect remain. So why would you take these courses?
It does actually teach you a lot. If you want to be successful in the business industry then you have to have a good image. This course can teach you how to do that, as well as teach you how to handle public appearances and how not to look like an idiot in front of your boss. It can also help you with social situation, so you’ll never get caught alone in a party trying to spend as much time in the bathroom touching up your makeup without looking suspicious as possible. Even if that’s never happened to you before, it can still help you to make more acquaintances and friends, and teach you how to not make any social faux-pas.
Personally I think that finishing schools are actually a good idea, especially now that we have the ingenious invention of the computer. It takes away from social time, and if you have been deprived of a good amount of face-to-face interaction with people it’s sometimes hard to be put in situations like parties where you don’t know many people. Finishing schools would really help with that. I would like the experience. I wouldn’t consider myself to be a social outcast or even close but I would like to learn that certain elegance with everything I do that finishing schools seem to promise me. Unfortunately it’s pretty pricey.
I won’t lie, I haven’t done as much research on price ranges that I could have for finishing schools. But, from what I have seen, they are a bit on the expensive side. If you don’t mind throwing a few thousand dollars at these people so they’ll teach you some manners though, by all means go ahead. I think it would still be a really great experience, and I will make a point to try it out in the future.

Very informative article. I didn’t know it was once called Finishing School.
There’s also a course like that in my country called John Robert Power. I really wanted to enter that course but it’s too bad the price’s too expensive for me.
Thanks for sharing!

This is a good article. A lot of things that people use to do, we do not do any longer and its a shame because a lot of it, did society good but I guess people don’t see it that way anymore.

Great article. Yes, proper etiquette is important and it should be stressed more. I am sure these courses are valuable and that is why they are so expensive. These courses are also designed to teach you how to walk like a model, dress and do your makeup like you said. Good work,.
