Fun Classroom Activities for English Language Teaching
Making Language Learning Fun.
English Language Teaching doesn’t have to be boring! Fun classroom activities are one great way to get kids interested in the English Language. In fact the more interest kids are in the lesson the more English they’ll pick up and retain what you’ve taught! And what a great way of introducing them to ESL through the medium of drawing. Kids just love to draw so this game will be a guaranteed hit in your ESL Classroom.
Aim: The aim of this game is to review previously taught vocabulary.
Procedure: Draw squares on the blackboard. They must be large enough for students to draw in. Get the students to write their names above the squares. Now line each student up at their squares. Now you should call out a word for the students to draw. You could start off very simply by calling out a single noun. For example car. The students will then have to draw the car. Give students a point for getting it right.
Variations: You could then start adding in adjectives. For example you could shout out.. Draw a big man, draw a fat man, draw a small man. The students will then have to draw what you called. The students are the awarded points for their efforts.
Tip: If possible always try to make these Fun Classroom Activities tie in with your English Language Teaching from previous lessons. This in turn will help to reinforce grammar and language points in the students minds. More ESL Games.
