Gifted Kids
My thoughts on child prodigies, then and now.
I think a child should be encouraged to express himself and become the talent that he was meant to be but should not be forced into the situation. That will only prove counterproductive in the long run. So in situations where the family wants to pass on their knowledge to their youngsters they also have be aware of the capacity that a child has, so as not to pressure him into doing something which only prevent the child from studying in the future.
In the end it is more important for the child to willing to work on his own than has to depend on others but even the most gifted person is dependent on passing on the information he has acquired and that does not mean that he will be only passing it onto gifted people. Having gifted children is a blessing especially if the parent is poor and wants to get out of their rut. That gifted child does not have to be a genius to have certain competitive qualities. it can be damaging to the relationship when the parent abuses the resources that child has for his benefit.
Are there as many prodigies as there were when Chopin composed the Polonaise? I think there are only we are fixed on the greats and the ones that have been lucky to capture the imagination of the media. Mozart was such a figure and his story became a film even though a large credit should have been relegated to his teacher Salieri.Mozart and Chopin commanded the music scene in Imperial Europe wheres Picasso commanded the art scene for his mature manner of painting when he was a child. De Vega commanded the literary scene like Cervantes for the amount of plays he wrote. I am sure that there are newer artists out there who are very prolific and whose creativity had begun early. The problem is we haven’t heard of them yet, they are still in the midst of creating evidence of their talent. There will always be newer geniuses
