One you have decides to return to school and have picked you class, immediately go shopping for your class supplies. Remember how excited you use to get on the first day of school with your new books and if you were lucky you new outfit get that excitement rolling.

Prepare yourself in advance; know what you’re getting into, and what is expected from you. Look into the syllabus, so that you can plan your projects and test accordingly. This is true if you’re working or if you are taking more than one class, being prepared helps avoid failure.

Just like when you were a child, make friends you will find that the younger generations are usually interested in what you have to say, or why you’re even taking this class.  Be yourself, do not try to change that, just so that you fit in, eventually that will collapse and your true colors will comes out. Your not 19, so don’t dress like you are; be real and act your age.

Do you projects and hand them in on time, never wait until the last weekend to try to complete assignment, it will show in your work, even at 35, teachers can see those who put their time and energy in their assignment and those who just put it together overnight.

So do not fret and do not fear, you will find others there, just like you looking to better themselves and their career.

Start slow, no need to run, and before you know it you may be an inspiration to others to go back to school, continue their educations; while you may find you are having a the time of your life.

Excellent advice. I finished my B.A. degree 20+ years after starting it. Went through several different programs before finally finding the right fit (financially and psychologically). I am in my early 40’s and found that I was no where near the oldest in the class. It was a very rewardng experience and the bonus was I was a great example of “never give up your dreams” to my children!

I was 53 years old when I went back to school. It was the best decision I ever made in my life.
