Grad School vs. Law School

Decisions, Decisions.

Growing up I wanted to be an astronaut or paleontologist.  Things just seemed so clear cut and simple and I knew what I wanted.  As I got older, my passions began to expand.  Human rights became more important to me than astronomy and archaeology.  My love for children and music led me to a certificate as an elementary school teacher and a music teacher.  I’ve been out of college now for three years and have no complaints about being a first grade teacher.  In fact, it really is a nice fit for me….but is it a perfect fit?  Is any job a perfect fit?  I get summers off to travel and lead outdoor adventures and year-round, remain fairly stress-free, as I know I’m good at what I do and the children have a calming effect and make me happy.  With that said, I’ve wanted to go to law school for a long time now and work with either the Anti-Defamation League, a public school system, or a teachers’ union.  I’m only 24 yet I feel like time is slipping away from me.  After two months of studying for the GRE and picking out Environmental Studies Masters programs, I’ve decided to ditch it all and follow my dreams of going to Law School.  Even though, I plan on taking the GRE in case my mind changes again/to see how I do, I will be spending the next few months cramming for the LSAT and applying to law schools.  At the end of the day, I know I want three things: an adventure, to help people and/or the environment, and to come back to teaching someday if I ever have a family. Let me know your thoughts on my career path plan. If you really don’t give a crap, no problem :) Thanks for reading.
