Hiv/aids Awareness in Pakistan
HIV/AIDS awareness in Pakistan.
This article is from The Express Tribune which is all about how organisations in Pakistan are doing their best to try to express the importance of HIV/AIDS to the general public. It is common knowledge that people all over the world at different ages are sexually active, however most countries especially the developed countries have sex-education in their schools therefore children are educated about having safe sex from a very early age. In Pakistan, the schools do not have these sex education classes. In fact, Pakistan has a low literacy level and more than half the country does not have access to formal education (by formal education i mean school and university education) therefore lack knowledge about important issues.
HIV/AIDS has become a common disease amongst people in Pakistan due to the fact that there are a lot of IDU’s (Injection Drug Users), sex workers, and practice of unsafe sex. The importance of proper hygiene also lacks amongst the lower class in Pakistan. Drug users share needles which could be dirty or rusted and spread diseases within each other, sex workers do not use protection which again leads to the spreading of the disease.
More importantly, Pakistani people need to be made aware of the consequences of this fatal disease for which there is no cure. They should also be made aware of how to prevent themselves from getting it and giving it to others.
