Homeschooling

About home education.

At the same time, I cannot fully express how much I admire the teachers in our schools that dedicate there time and efforts to our students every day, but I must say that we are well over due for a reform in how our schools are funded and administrated. Teachers should be fairly paid, probably paid much more than they are making now, but I am uncertain as to why our children have to pay to play sports, or why only some students have bussing when we have multiple overhead administrative positions that are never directly involved with the students. When I was younger, even though my parents were tax paying land owners in the community, we were unable to play sports in the school leagues. Now any student in the school or who is home schooled or in private school should be able to pay and play according to the new rules, am I right?

What my parents saw over 25 years ago as concerns have only grown in this public system. Though homeschooling is not for everyone, as we all have heard of the home schooling families who don’t seem to do much schooling at all, it is definitely a viable option in our current situation today. I credit my quality education as the reason I am now a homeowner in the village of Middlefield, and I operate two of my own businesses, as well as stay actively involved in my church and other community events being just 24 years old. By prayerfully considering this option for education and taking it in my life, I am certain that my parents have given me the resources to go above and beyond what a typical student has access to in the traditional system. Academically I am not very strong compared to my other siblings, but through more one on one time I have been able to shore up my weak areas and focus on my strengths. Personalized education, just like any other personalized approach can give us much greater results.

I am certain that our future depends on strong leaders in the youth of today, those who can resist the temptations all around them, and choose their own path of integrity and success. With strong young men and women coming up in society we have the chance to have more strong moral families which history has proven is the backbone and moral strength of any nation.

I am convinced that homeschooling is an option that is well worth consider for any family whatever their children’s ages might be. If your children and you both agree that it is an option worth trying then don’t be afraid to step out and try something new. In the words of Helen Keller “The world is moved not only by the mighty shoves of the heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.” I believe she understood that each one of us doing what is right and honorable has the greatest effect on the world around us. Don’t be afraid of what may happen. Like myself, there are others you may have heard of who were home schooled as well. Thomas Edison, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Quincy Adams, Abraham Lincoln, William Henry Harrison, Theodore F. Roosevelt, Charles Dickens, CS Lewis, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Benjamin Franklin to name a very few.

In conclusion, I would encourage you to open your mind to new ideas and consider, carefully, and prayerfully with your family if this maybe what you have been looking for as an alternative for your child’s education.
