How to Become a Doctor and Which Jobs are Available to Graduates

If you are looking to explore the career path of becoming a PhD in education, there are several job options that often have excellent employment rates with comparably higher salaries to that of those applicants with only a Masters or Bachelors. Becoming a “Doctor” will lend you to the top of the resume pile when applying to be a public school principal. However, don’t expect such service when applying for the top position of superintendent.

And one must take into account that these jobs are political in nature and therefore subject to turnover. On the other hand, a well established and respectable doctoral graduate could have a long and illustrious career as well. Many PhD’s make more of their income writing as published authors while employed by institutions such as colleges, universities or public school districts. There are several avenues including periodicals, newsletters, textbooks, journals and newspapers. Most of which fairly exclusively hire academics with advanced post graduate degrees.  

Upon retirement, many academics continue their work privately as consultants in their respective fields. For example, a historian would be able to freelance as a consultant to a local museum. Other more ambitious retirees with PhD’s will compile their life’s work in the form of compendiums of research or grand ideas. It is those works that most PhD’s have make long lasting impressions.
