How to Give Your Full Concentration on Your Studies

One of major problems that student are facing on their study is that lack of capacity to focus on what they are doing. This article discusses the different reasons why students cannot concentrate on their studies. Along with the reasons are the different solutions that can be done to prevent the problems.

Most students always tend to say they go to school because they want to learn. However, words without actions is futile. I always remember how one of my students always tell me that he/she will study harder every time he/she gets a low grade but then after several days, it will seems to be that he/she had said nothing on me.  And what I had noticed from them is that they do lack in concentration.

Based on my observations, here are different factors why students do not pay much attention on class.

1. Lack of Sleep

Having enough sleep is good for one’s health.  It  is when we sleep that our brain will be relax from the very stressful activities that we did all day.  Studies have shown that it is during sleeping that our neurons shut down and repair any damage on our body. Without these repairs, the neurons will not function properly due to a build-up of waste products.  When we do not have enough sleep,  we cannot concentrate the next day because we will be very sleepy. It is important to pay attention on the hours of sleep we get. Too much time spending on TV, computer games and other unnecessary activities  must be avoided.

2. Stress

According to Merriam-Webster Medical Dictionary, stress is a state of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium. There are many factors which causes a person to be stress. It can be because of money, relationship with the people around him or unrealistic expectations. Students who cannot pay for their tuition in school always suffer from financial stress because of poverty. One way to solve this is to get a part time job to support the studies. Other problem is in relationship between people around them. No matter how small or big the problem is, communicating with the person that causes you stress is one good choice to deal with. Unrealistic expectations is when we get insecure on ourselves. Some students cannot accept it when there is someone better then them. We must learn to be happy on who we are and what we have because there is always someone less fortunate than us.

3. Lack of Motivation

Motivation involves the willingness and desire to do something.  Students must know and understand why are they going to school. They must comprehend that education is a very important factor on one’s life. Learning must not be boring. Students must be able to find out how to condition themselves on the learning process.

4. Lack of Exercise

Exercise have many awesome benefits to offer.  One of these is by boosting the flow of blood in our brains and help it receive oxygen and nutrients. That will help you to think quickly. Not all students can do exercises regularly which makes them very sleepy in class. It is very important to do even at least 15 minutes exercise a day and for sure it will make a big difference which is beneficial.

5. Health status

As the line say “Health is Wealth”, it just means that we can improve more in our life if we have a healthy body. A weak student attending school might have difficulty in understanding what his or her teacher says. Poor health have many causes and one of these is inappropriate choice of food. In order to have full concentration in what we do, we must have a good health and avoid different habits or vices that we know will not do any good.

6. Environment

Student can easily be distracted to what is happening on their environment.  That is why it is a good thing to seek a place where you cannot be disturb by noise and other activities. The ambience must be conducive to  learning, with proper lights and well-ventilated.
