How to Teach Vocabulary

The writing was good,but my little niece failed to write correctly some words…I called her attention to it,and she felt bad..That  she  cannot spell without making a mistake,so i took it upon myself to help her…

Apart from this my little niece,who is yet  to read much great books.There is still some Young adult and adult,who are very poor  in Vocabulary and spellings…They  have limited vocabs or words,the little they know,they cannot  spell correctly…

Now i am a teacher,that just got a  job.I’m using  the  method  i use  for my niece to teach my class..There is no hard and fast rule about this..It is only left for the teacher to use his discretion in doing this…

I try as much as possible to identify the ability and mental alertness of my students in Class.Then,whenever i introduce a new word,i tell them  to note it and devise a  way of dividing  the  words in bits and memorizing it and  also know  the meaning,by me explaining  or them checking it in the dictionary and  noting what part of speech is it..Towards the end of the  class,i ask them again or i conduct a ten minutes dictation..Which i have found  out they love..Although,i teach a non-native speaker student..In a typical native speaker class,i believe this will work also..

I also introduce and encourage them to read great novels of some brillant authors..I also ask to always pick a new word everyday and memorize it…I know give them,this quote that readers are leaders..That they ability to use great and simple new words in their interaction with people and friends..That it also make them write and communicate effectively.The more respect and acceptance they  will get. from peers..

I also make them to see actions or events that happen around them,and try and find words that describe perfectly the situation,where they  cannot  get  it,they should rush to their dictionary for consulation and more apparent  meaning  and understanding.

I always organise spelling bean in my class..This the  student love,because i also bring in some chocolates sweet..In  this also,they are able to pick the right word,and helping   in their listening skills also.

I also encourage my students to form a habit  of reading books and watching Tv orDVD on great speeches made

by some notable and important speakers..I also bring in some good graph comic books to read…All these have been yielding results,but it is  working,because i inspired and motivated them to do  all these and i know i have great boys and girls that are really working hard and ready to learn.

Improving your  vocabulary is necessary and important.It  shows how far  you can go in your career and your social interaction with people in boardroom meeting,dinner table,conventions,seminar,and wedding and Birthday parties toasting time,report writing and memo task.

Get more of that vocabulary by reading extensively and voraciously..You never can tell,your next promotion might depend on it!
