Landmark Journey of Face Book From February, 2004 to February, 2012

Since launch of face book in February, 2004 till February 4, 2012, in a short span of eight years, face book has glorious journey and it has established as one of the best social net working social sites. It has estimated 845 million active subscribers world wide now. It was started at Harward University in 2004 in mark zuckberg’s dormitory room, a student of Harvard University.

 This social networking site has made deep inroads in people’s life pertaining to all walks of life. The site has attracted youngsters in large numbers and played a role in changing the psyche of youngsters and teenagers. They are welcoming and adopting the new value pattern of modern tech age. But for those youngsters, with strong susceptibilities and innate predispositions to addiction and obsession see themselves caught in a fierce net of new obsessions and addiction. Web-page and net addiction is proving very harmful to their daily social activities and health. They remain clanged and glued to net and web pages throught day and night, ignoring all warnings of their parents. To keep the net on and working has become their compulsion.

 This is very tragic aspect of computerization and tchnologisation of people’s lives. Some youngersters have started behaving like machines devoid of all healthy emotion of life. I fear a new generation of schoizds may bear from these new phenomena. It has started adversely affecting the health of people. A new generation of cyber- hypochondriacs is evolving rapidly who out of anxiety, day and night, keep themselves busy in finding symptoms of their diseases on net to relive their internal anxiety states.  Health anxiety has overwhelmed their lives and they are always pre occupied with health matters. Hypochdria is serious psychosis with pre occupation of mind with minor health issues and symptoms.

Face book has seen massive growth in content and style. It is attracting crowds of people and new people are opening face book accounts one that has not opened his or her account, he sees himself lagging behind of others and in life and feels inferior in mind. It has totally changed the outlook and vision of people. It has become the “morning tea” of many people who after getting up early in the morning open their computers and see the face book activities of their friends.

 The brain and man behind this mammoth success story of face book is its founder CEO Zuckerberg. The company has three other co-founders also namely– Eduardo saverin, Dustin muskovitz and Chris Hughes, all college roommates and fellow students at Harvard University. The four co founders initially built the services for Harvard students only. Later they extended the services to all universities and now it has acquired global dimensions. It is globally one of the best socials net working sites now. In January 2009, compete.com study ranked face book as the most used social net working site by world wide active users.
