Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, reported that in 2012 will begin offering certificates to students who take classes for free on the Internet.
New initiatives follow in the footsteps of Stanford University, Harvard and MIT same institution that offers several classes of them over the network to users around the world.
However, this is the first time to pass this course, homework and exams are offered to solve the surfers the possibility of a certificate from the university.
University Teachers reported that the challenges and the same level of difficulty faced by students on campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
MIT spokesman said they made the choice of the most popular class for an interactive platform where users have access to the laboratory on the Internet, the ability to interact with other students of the same class and if they meet all the requirements and tests MITX achieve the certificate.
MITX is a program designed by the open structure of universities offering free online education. According to the university statement, the certification will be issued by the MITX to avoid confusion.
It is not clear that many opportunities to interact with the teacher or how the tests will be exactly evaluated.
