Obama Wants to Increase School Days?

What President Obama wants to do to school days.

In this article they talk about how some people want to increase the school day. I myself wouldn’t enjoy that. I am a student and I think that being at school most of the day is wrong and not fair. Kids need a break to spend time with there family and to just relax. They already have a long hard day at school. It just doesn’t make sense to make they days longer.

Having longer school days would be hard on the kids because they wouldn’t have as much time to spend with family and friends. Instead they would be spending there time sitting in a classroom ignoring the teacher because they didn’t want to be there. Adding to the school day would just make the student hate the classes they have late in the afternoon because they didn’t want to be there.

Students grades may also drop. Being overworked is never a good thing. Students may feel overwhelmed with school and they might just start to ignore it. Students today are already overwhelmed with school and homework sometimes. Why should they just overwhelm us even more? Teachers could make learning in school maybe a little more fun some how. This way students would enjoy being in school and learning.

There could be alternatives. There could be options like having only the students who are near failing have to take summer school or school on the weekends. All students shouldn’t have to be punished just because some students are doing bad in school. It could also be optional for the students who are doing well. If they want to learn about something else or if they just want extra help they should be able to go to a class on the weekend or during the summer. But making it mandatory for all students to have to sit though some extra days and hours of school just isn’t fair.

I don’t think it is fair for all students to have to have longer days or school. Kids need time to spend with there family and friends away from school. All of the homework is already enough of school. They need some time for themselves.
