Ofsted Inspection – Headless Chicken Time

It is a shame that those who lead in colleges, the senior management, have so few skills and so little to offer. Lengthy papers exhorting lowly paid staff to do the impossible and meetings that give the impression of activity are never going to make this vanity project succeed. I say a vanity project because Colleges are preparing to take the most intractable problems on; and it is vanity on the part of management if they think that they can get staff (with fewer resources) to do better in one year than schools can do in eleven.

And no I am not a right wing ideologue- I was educated by the LCC in the fifties and sixties – the London County Council, a Labour Council – Traditional formal education is not a right wing thing – it used to be universally accepted by all political wings until an influential section of the left abused the power they had been handed and decided that they did not want to be in the same bed as the political right and sacrificed the children on the altar of ideology. This ideology is so deeply embedded it is not seen as ideology at all.

I am sorry you can’t see the document but it does prove my point that the people who prepared it just copied great chunks of other people’s ideas.
