Online Schooling Vs. Classrooms

This article describes the many benefiting factors as well as the downfalls of online schooling. I will explain what online schooling involves and why it is better than the classroom.

Have you ever wondered if online virtual schools are better than being in the classroom? Well online virtual schooling does clearly have its benefits, but it does also have its downfalls. As a parent, would you rather have your child in school exposed to all of those surroundings? As a student, would you make the best out of your online experience or would you just see it as “an easy way out”?

Online virtual schools offer many classes that public high schools do not. There are some online virtual schools that offer over 700 classes that allow students to fully expand their learning abilities and give them a chance to challenge themselves. The chances of a student not being able to be in a class online is rare compared to when public school classes fill up and the student is unable to be in the desired class.

Online virtual schooling does have its ups and downs. If you told a student that they would be able to stay home and work on homework whenever they feel like it, some issues may arise. Would this student have enough motivation to stick to a self-paced schedule? Students whom pace themselves and take full advantage of their online learning opportunity have the most success.

Online virtual schooling offers a comfortable environment for a student, in the comfort of their home. This gives students an advantage from not being around potentially harmful and hurtful situations. Many of these situations in public schools seem to be “harrassment” or “bulleying” related. A student that participates in online schooling would not be around or exposed to that type of content, which allows many parents to be at ease.

Weighing your advantages and disadvantages of online schooling will potentially help you decide if it is best for you as a parent or as a student to decide if you would be best as an online student.
