Over-working: It’s Not Working
The kids of today and the fact that they are being pushed to hard for college.
Responsibility is one out of two hundred and twenty thousand words in the Oxford Dictionary, yet who would have thought that such an insignificant word could cause so much stress, pressure, and just a blatant disregard to happiness. Kids these days are quite different from kids of the past generations. Pressure is being thrust upon them left and right. It comes from their parents, jobs, after school activities, and even their friends. Feeling the need to stress college, parents put their kids in a position where time to relax and enjoy life has to be scheduled. Kids are forced to take on more then the can handle in after school activities, as well as trying to maintain a 4.0 grade point average. All to get the chance to go to a college their parents want them to go to. It is a vicious cycle and it never seems to stop.
America is based on the idea that anyone can do what they want to do. Anyone who is inspired to change the world can do so. Creativity is what made America and by parents telling their kids exactly what to do it robs them of just that. Believe what you want to believe, but every kid, adult, and parent is different. The kids of today are our future, so why rush that much responsibility on them now? They will feel that way when they are running the country, when they are members of the economy, and when they are adults. Let kids play out in the sun, stay up late eating ice cream, and have a little fun. Tell them it is alright if they miss their soccer practice or if they get a “B” on their report card instead of an “A”. In the aspect of honesty the most parents can do is introduce the right choice to the child. What their child does from there is out of their hands. I say let kids make their own mistakes and find their own way of doing things. Each person is different, unique, and has no shadow the same. In conclusion give the kids of today the freedom to shape into the adults of tomorrow.
