Production of Artificial Meat From The Tube to Begin Next Year

Next year may be recorded in history as the dawn of a new agricultural revolution, because Dutch scientists will start testing meat production "in vitro". Among other things, this is one of the technologies that could answer the question, how will they be able to sustain increasing billions of people on Earth.

Meat produced without the cows will be available faster and cheaper than today and non-waste only slaughter cattle often ugly conditions. The procedure is quite simple – the geneticists want to produce meat through the cultivation of stem cells from bovine animals, and there is no reason to do so could not use samples of cells and other animals – like rare venison. The first goal is the production of meat into hamburger with a sample 10 000 live cells of the cow. This sample was cultured in the laboratory so that the cells proliferated billion and created a mass similar to beef. The matter, however, was subjected to a special form of pressure and tension so that the muscle fibers and formed a shapeless jelly arose “loved”, but preferably real meat with a characteristic structure. It is theoretically possible to consider the future as well as a variety of quality meat.

Who first taste?

“I do not see any way we could make do with the current meat production in the coming decades,” said the professor Mark Post MailOnline of Maastricht University, who is involved in the project. “We are trying to prove that the world can produce this meat, and just need some daredevils who taste it first,” he said with exaggeration Post. When you find one, so it apparently falls on him. For the magazine Scientific American Post pointed out that the first burger of the tube will be finished within 12 months.

Existing prototypes of artificial meat did not taste

The first artificial meat was produced at the same university as early as 2009, but only a gray mass with no structure, very similar to those of squid. However, the resulting mass in addition to the structure and lacked flavor. Researchers are convinced however, that improved “prototype” will be acceptable with a bit of black humor add that people eventually left with nothing. “When we eat a hamburger, so too not think

: ‘Just by a dead cow.,’” Said one colleague Professor Post. People are also now far from sources that you consume, so they would not be hard to accept grown meat. Statistics population growth are inexorable and expect that eating meat, or the demand to double by 2050. Behaviour of cattle would not be possible to satisfy demand.Artificial meat would feed the world on the contrary, because according to calculations, carried out by researchers at the University of Utrecht, it is possible from one sample of stem cells within two months to get 50,000 tons of meat. In the Oxford scientists have calculated that cultivating kilogram of meat will need up to 60 percent less energy and 98 percent less land than on its acquisition of the current breed of cattle. Considerable gain is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 95 percent.
