School Budget Cuts: May I Vent a Little Please?

     I think that schools could look around and find other things to cut out of their budgets.  In our school district, even though teachers are being laid off, they have found other ways to try to save money.  For instance, they are removing microwaves from classrooms.  Teachers will still have their microwaves in the teacher’s lounge so they are not being completely taken away.  By doing this they estimate they will save about 50 cents per classroom per day.  They are hoping for a total savings of around $20,000 in a year.  We’ll see.  

     It saddens me to see that the kids are the ones who lose because the adults that make our laws and decide how taxpayer money is spent would rather cut the education budget than lose that second and third home, the all expense paid vacations, and all the other perks that they have than give our children the tools they need to grow up to be responsible adults.  Look at it this way, it’s like that saying about your kids.  Be nice to them, they will be the ones taking care of you someday.   Will you really feel comfortable when you retire knowing that these kids, now your lawmakers, could say, ” Well, they took from us, let’s take from them.”    Our kids deserve a good education.  Let’s give them one. 

     You may not agree with what I had to say.  That’s fine.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  I just needed to rant for a minute so thank you for letting me say my peace.
