SEC Championship Game Predicion
LSU Tiger and Georgia Bulldogs meet in the SEC Championship game on December 3rd to decide the conference champion.
The undefeated LSU Fighting Tigers will take on the Georgia Bulldogs on December 3rd in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. LSU’s powerhouse defense will battle the best offense in the SEC East. I think LSU will come out on top, with a strong performance in the second half. Since Georgia’s offense is centered around the passing game, sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray will be more susceptible to interceptions against arguably the strongest secondary in college football. Here are some of my predictions for the Game:
-Jordan Jefferson will get the start, but continue to come out slow in the first quarter. The option, run by Jefferson and running back Michael Ford, will be a huge gainer all game long. Jefferson’s ability to draw the defender and consistently make the perfect pitch has been spectacular. The very deep rotation with the running game will draw large yardage, which will create more room for Jefferson to throw on his very convincing play action. The Tigers will have another high scoring game riding the success of their strong running backs.
-Aaron Murray will have a hard time under pressure, even with the majority of the crowd behind him. If his main receiving targets get shut down, he has a great enough ability to create plays like he has all season. The only difference to the past will be the challenge of a tougher defense. Their running back Isaiah Crowell will play, but get shut down, as will backup Carlton Thomas. The push of the LSU defensive line, which can rotate in and out at will without losing intensity, will manhandle the trenches.
-The two defenses in this game are both among the top ten or so in the country, and will probably show that through most of the first half. The Tigers will take a lead into half time, making their streak of not trailing at halftime grow to fourteen games. Deep passes to Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham are inevitable in the second half, and one or maybe even both will more than likely go for a touchdown. The Georgia offense will likely go through a stretch of at least four drives without scoring, during which they will have multiple turnovers. The “Honeybadger” Tyrann Mathieu will follow up his spectacular division clinching game against Arkansas with another forced turnover of in this game.
-It will be a great game for Tiger fans, and a rather disappointing one for Georgia. LSU’s defense will hold Georgia to under 20 points, while LSU puts up over 40. I have a final score of 42 – 13, LSU. That would be the ninth time this season LSU outscores their opponent by at least 20 points. Georgia has had a great season, winning ten games after losing the first two, but the National Championship bound Tigers will roll smoothly through Atlanta on their way down to New Orleans in January.
