Social Issues in Education

Social Issues in Education.

If there is one thing to climb or descend an individual, that is his education. Schools where children learn and prepare for life, are bound to give them the right environment in which they can get a proper education.

In school, students are studying foreign languages, mathematics, science, history and a host of other materials. Participate in sports, socialize with peers and learn how to adapt to different social situations. However, an impediment to child development comes through the various social problems affecting the education system. Here are a few of them:

Emotional Problems

Society has changed considerably in recent decades, and the divorce rate is very high, which means that many children grow up in single parent families. Growing up in broken families can adversely affect a pupil’s emotional health and this may reduce the return to school. However, even when children are raised in families where both parents are present, their emotional needs will not always be met.

Ethnic Issues

Children who belong to certain ethnic groups such as blacks or Roma, were tenders to learn slower than others.Because of racism and prejudice borrowed from parents, children from ethnic majority will tease others, making them more self-esteem will decrease.

Gender Issues

Another social problem of education is the basis of sex differentiation. In some sections of society, girls have fewer opportunities for schooling, compared with boys. Also the expectations of the girls to take higher marks are lower.

Economic Issues

Some social problems occurring in education due to economic stratum from which the student belongs. Those who belong to poor families or attend schools that are not so well equipped with technological equipment, are not able to study at home on these media. This automatically puts them at a disadvantage to students who have more financial possibilities.

Cultural Issues

Students who come from immigrant or minority families may have difficulties because of language, and this creates a communication barrier between them and between them and teachers or peers, and therefore can not receive a proper education.

The impact of social issues on education

Because of these social problems, a lot of students abandon school each day, and this has mainly two types of impact – firstly, student performance has suffered and secondly, the expectations of teachers do not remain the same for everyone . Therefore, certain issues have been raised in education policy to solve social problems occurring in schools.

In the big cities or in those where most students come from immigrant families there are schools with bilingual programs. This helps to learn the official language and other subjects soon.

This is a great article! Also we must consider the cultural and social norms that children experience at home. We all learn our values, morals, and social norms from our parents and/or home environment. Great job!
