The Chaos of School Violence
Why is there so much school violence?
Mental hospitals often care for people in professional fields. The pressure of having to live up to their expectations, can cause them to crash and need help emotionally or mentally. We don’t look for red flags.
We only expect children to work harder and fit into the social mold that educators create for them. Many college students commit suicide around exam time. The stress becomes more than they can bear. Receiving low grades or test scores can throw some of them into chaos and hopelessness. They are expected to do well and when they fail, they feel worthless. Children who can not measure up to the expectations of their parents or society, end up becoming self destructive. They turn to drugs, crime and hopelessness. They end up becoming homeless, or put into prison. Our system has the mentality to punish these lost ones, instead of trying to understand what they are going through.
Experts who are always right in their own eyes, refuse to LISTEN. It is their way, or no way. No wonder we keep seeing negative actions by students who feel trapped or mis-understood. Our society is so focused on PRODUCTIVITY and MATERIALISM, that we force our children to be competitive in everything. Our world is on a fast tract to self destruction. Technology is developing so fast, that what was new last year is obsolete today. Children must be computer brains simply to keep up.
The pressure we put on our children is far more than we ever experienced as children. Then we wonder why some children reach the breaking point and take themselves out. It is not only the academically gifted who break under the pressure. Children who have learning disabilities or can not measure up to the expectations of their parents or the schools, are viewed as being lazy, and failures. The are accused of not trying hard enough.
Fifty per cent of all high school students drop out of school. Yet our academic system refuses to accept that ALL children are not equal in academic skills, and ALL students are not college material. So why do we punish them if they do not go to college? They are ostracized by society for not fitting into our politically correct academic mold.
They are denied employment if they do not have a degree. This leads to all sorts of self destructive behaviors. They are seen as lazy, bad and worthless. This leads to drugs, crime and suicide. It leads to the anger and rage that goes into a student who shoots up a school. If we as a society don’t slow down our pace and LISTEN TO THE KIDS who need our attention without criticism, we are in for a lot more school violence.
