The Important Role of Questions in the Learning Process

Learning is a process, which requires a learner to apply all his mental skills for effective learning.

Learning is a continuous process, which requires all our mental involvement and effort. It is a known and proven fact that good questions will bring good answers. The best way to learn is by asking questions. It goes this way. You are trying to learn something and you encounter a doubt. To overcome this doubt you are naturally prompted to frame a question.

So it is very important to know how to frame good questions if you want master a subject. It requires some practice and patients to master this. Observer how others are asking questions which gets the right answers. Good questions asked by you can server two purposes. 1) It gives an impression about yourself, how much you know about the subject and what you need to learn more. 2) The teacher can provide satisfying answers, which enhance your current knowledge level and enables you to acquire more interest in your subject. So to learn effectively never hesitate to ask good questions. Try to improve on this skill. You may prepare the questions you want to ask beforehand in order to ask relevant ones.

While teaching also using questions is very important. To be successful in teaching profession a person should follow a routine of asking questions that can help you to analyze the learner’s current knowledge. Good questions, which are used in teaching, can penetrate into the minds of learners. The great teacher Jesus Christ was a good example in asking thought provoking questions. Thought provoking questions give the audience all the dimensions related to a particular subject in question.

    This is a good observation. Questions improve the quality of learning process and make learning a more interesting activity for many. I fully agree with the statement that a fair amount of talent is required to frame good thought provoking questions.

    Questions have definitely an important role in learning. Logical questions always provoke thinking process and during this process we find solutions. In short, without questions there is no actual learning take place.
