The Problem with Public Schools Today

My views on public school.

I write to you today to discuss the problems that, I believe, are wrong with the public school system. While I may live in Washington, I dont know much of public schools outside of this state.

Many may have heard about the Federal Way school district on national news for the requirement of an “Opposing view” to the video about global warming, entitled “An Incovenient Truth”. I do not believe that anyone on the face of this earth is in denial about global warming. Even if thats the case, I am willing to make a wager that they havent made a film about it.

Another problem with schools today is the amount of homework being loaded upon children. One of my friends has a child who attends an elementary school. I went to visit my friend and he told me that his son was in the other room doing homework. I walked past the room he was working in, and I couldnt believe how much work he had on that table. I talked to him about it  and he had at least 2 assingments in every subject. All of this was assigned in one day.

Finally, I have a problem with the way teachers are being hired. Back when I was in school, teachers were old, expirenced, and knew what they were talking about. Now they are getting rid of the older teachers so the can have more room for the new, less expirienced teachers. To me, I would think its more important on who and what the children are learning rather than who gets the job and who gets paid.

I believe it is time for change. Maybe Obama will change the no child left behind mistake that Bush made. . .
