Proper classroom management can be a bit of a hassle. However, it is important to remember, especially if you are a teacher of any grade, that proper classroom management ensures the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. When a teacher plans out his or her classroom management in advance, it is always an advantage. Many experts believe that proper classroom management ensures order and discipline.
How do you pick the right method to ensure that your classroom is properly managed? There are several ways, actually. It begins with the identification of methods and strategies. You need to consider the enforcement of discipline, codes of conduct and even rules. The right atmosphere of learning is very important in any classroom.
The first trick is to enforce discipline in the classroom. It doesn’t matter what grade you teach, discipline is the utmost important factor. A wise man once said “To run any institution, may it be a school or even an office, discipline is the key”. Discipline can be enforced several ways. Punishment can be carried out. However, it must be done in a certain way. It is never a good thing to punish your students in front of others. It would embarrass them and hurt them. Sometimes, it is better to punish according to the nature of the crime. A warning, a letter to the parents or detention time may be better ideas of punishment. It all depends on the teacher, really. A teacher must be calm and patient when dealing with a stubborn student. Some experts believe that an award system can, in fact help in ensuring discipline in the classroom.

Rules and regulations are the second trick. Rules are important. Without rules there will be no guideline to follow. Rules and regulations are vital to control a class filled with students of different characters. Make sure that your classroom rules do not contradict the general rules of the school. Rules must be basic and can be understood by all students in the class. You, as the teacher must set a good example by following the rules and by being fair. When setting new rules, make sure you explain them thoroughly and in detail to your students. Rules must also be set according to the age of your students. Basically, when you set classroom rules, keep in mind that it is to maintain order in the class and to generate a good learning environment.
The third trick is the involvement of parents. The main reason to involve parents is to get to know your students better. A learning process is more effective is a teacher truly understands his or her student. One way to get to know your student better is by involving parents. Have a good relationship with all the parents of your students. Don’t just contact them if their child is in a troubled situation or have done something bad. You need to be fair as a teacher. Contact parents and also let them know their child’s improvements and achievements. A good relationship with parents is definitely a plus point.
These are just three tricks to manage you classroom appropriately. There are other ways that you can consider. But these are the three basic, easy and proven-to-be –effective ones. Follow them accordingly and in no time, you will have order and a proper environment for teaching in your classroom.
