I like it. We have a few brand, new teachers this year. It is interesting to watch the difference in the way they handle students and the way the veteran teachers deal with the same youngsters. Teaching really is a learned art.

Great tips here, thanks. last summer hols, I spotted a bingo game in a charity shop. You know the cage thingy with numbered balls in it, (bargain 2 quid!)
At the start of each new year, names in a hat, I pick first out, the student spins the wheel and makes a note of their number. They then pick the next name, and so on. I also record everyones no, on a paper register, and make a not of unused balls (I start with 28), so in future, students should know what their no. is, and I have a record. A bit time consuming at the start, but once done is done for the rest of the year.
Thanks again

Great teaching tips here. While it is inevitable that each teacher favors a certain student, it is really important to show fairness to all, as this would reflect on the teacher's sense of professionalism. We as teachers should counter this attitude of favoritism because we'll never know that somehow, later in their life, an unfavored student might just emerge successful in life just because a fair-dealing teacher gave him or her a chance to shine even once in class.
Thanks for the nice article.
