Trains and Lessons

Being spontaneous is taking anything that happens to you, be it good or bad, and turn it a sweet experience!

I just have to tell this story because it is still fresh in my mind. I have been here in mainland Europe since 19th of June. I was in Toulouse for 6 days. Every day was amazing and special, Each day, I fell more and more in love with France and Toulouse. It is such a great and beautiful and homey city/town. On the evening of the 25th I flew back to Paris with a tear in my heart but I knew I would come back definitely. I came to Paris, went straight to a Parisian birthday party of Louise’s friend: I was quite tired, took 3 trains from Charles de Gaulle aiport, yet went straight to the party with my backpack and travelling bag. It was cool, though. I have never been to any party in Paris. Quite classe and calm atmosphere with friendly, jovial people.

When we decided to go home to Louise’s place, it was already late so there was no Metro anymore so we had to take the night bus. Oh my God, it was such a long trip in the bus, a lot pf party people. Louise, Jeremy and I were all really tired but we had to stand there in the bus and listen to people, international students screaming/singing LA BAMBA!! And many other Spanish songs. It was cool though, I loved it.

So, we finally arrived at Louise’s flat, stayed up for a cup of Icelandic tea, had a chat with her friend and flatmate that was going to the Philippines the day after, then went to bed. I just slept for not more than an hour because I had a plane to catch at Charles de Gaulle!

I finally came at the airport only to find out that I was 5 minutes late. My plane to Vienna has already taken off. The joy.

It would cost at least 200 euros to change to the later flight. Damn. So, I made my phonecalls, tried to calm down because I was already running before, had a cup of cofee and breakfast at Starbucks.

Then I thought, okay I will check the train.

Turned out that the train trip would take at least 12 hours and it would cost me 288 euros. I juggled along what I could do. I don’t have that much money, yet if I took the plane, I would pay that amount without any thrill. I just fly for a couple of hours and that’s it. So after 2 hours of deciding and making different phonecalls, I decided to take the train. I do have something left in my savings, and why not, I haven’t taken the train alone before in Europe. Funny, as I was buying the ticket, the military came to the airport and ordered everybody out. The woman was in a hurry to give me the ticket, and me, too, I was not sure what was happening. I just paid 245 euros, I thought, cool, I saved some.
