University Fees! Why Do We Have to Pay So Much?
University tuition fees are currently expensive! The new proposed system is WORSE! Stop punishing the hard working families of this country!
University tuitions fees in England and Wales are a little over £3,200 per annum. However, in Scotland tuitions fees are free! Is this fair? What makes the situation worse is that the UK government are putting in place increased tuition fees with the average fee expected to be around £6,000. Although, if you’re looking to go to highly ranked universities such as Cambridge then you could find yourself paying as much as £9,000 per year. This means that the average student at Cambridge will come out of university with fees debt of £27,000 compared to the current average of £9,000. This injustice has to stop! When including maintenance loans which were set up to help support the living costs of being a student. The debts that our nation’s students will be leaving university will put them in a spiralling debt cycle.
The government has said that support will be put in place to assist students from low earning families. However, once again the hard working lower-middle class whose parents work tirelessly whilst paying tax to support the people on unemployment benefits will be squeezed. I believe that this means that low income families will be able to send their children to university with the support of the tax payer, so will high income families. BUT the hard working middle class won’t be able to afford to send their children and with little support from the government these children will be put off of higher education.
In conclusion, there needs to be a rethink of university fees, as the proposed fees are unfair to those whose parents work hard, pay tax, yet are not privileged.
